I Sprinkled Safe Paw On My Driveway In The District Of Columbia- Here’s What Happened

I originally started using Safe Paw before I had a dog. I started using it for the safety of my concrete driveway and sidewalks, and for the safety of my brick steps. Safe Paw did not damage concrete or brick. We now have a dog. Safe Paw effectively melts ice and helps prevent its return if there is a follow-up storm.

But there are a few things you should keep in mind to make the most of it.

1. Magic Lies In Its Mix –

Safe Paw uses a patented dual-effect compound made of a modified crystalline amide core infused with a special glycol admixture and the patented traction agents. This design gives Safe Paw a two-way timed-release action, where the liquid component starts melting and breaking the surface tension while the crystal core penetrates and destabilizes the ice (melting it even faster). At this point, the traction agent has been applied, allowing you to safely walk on the ice while Safe Paw does its job.

Many pets experience gastrointestinal upset, diarrhea, and vomiting, even after ingesting a small amount of chemical-based ice melt. Prolonged exposure to most ice melts will irritate the skin, paw pads, and other body surfaces.

I realized that Safe Paw is completely free from salt and chlorine. It’s a great ice melter that’s pet safe. It does not hOarm the pet, burn its paws or cause vomiting or nausea if ingested.

2. Don’t Overuse It –

Apart from being the only ice melt that’s pet safe, it is required in less quantity. I bought the 35-pound size enough to get me through the winter. The key is to lightly sprinkle the product over the desired area. Do not overdo it.

3. Pre-treat The Surface With The Ice Melt –

Just before the recent dusting of snow, I sprinkled Safe Paw on my sidewalk, concrete driveway, and the snow melted. 

Before the snow hits the ground, pre-treating your concrete prevents the snow from sticking to the surface. This process minimizes the quantity of ice melt post-snow. 

Pets love to play in the snow, but the reality is winters can be very harsh on them. Injuries to a pet’s paws and skin are quite common in winters. They often get lesions on their legs, cuts on paws, skin irritation, and diarrhea due to snow or chemicals in the ice melt products.And if you’re thinking that your ice melt is labeled pet-safe. I hate to break it, but almost all such ice melt also uses the same chemicals as other ice melt. They also have chloride in their composition. Therefore, make a wise this winter and save your pet-friend.
