Another in a series of winter storms will produce a mixture of snow, freezing rain, and sleet across the interior Northeast and adjacent areas of Canada late this week. This storm system is not nearly as widespread nor as severe as the storm over the past weekend. Within the WTA zone, snow accumulations of 3-6 inches (and locally higher) are expected. The greatest risk for freezing rain is along the southern boundary of the zone as well as into central PA. This storm will be all rain along the coast.
We do not recommend preparatory action at this time.
Impacted Major Highways within the risk zone:
Major interstates within the risk zone that will be impacted to some degree include: I-95 (Maine), I-90, I-87, I-81, I-80, and the TransCanada highway.
Business Operations, Loading/Unloading Freight, and Intermodal Ramp Operations
Minor to moderate impacts to business operations are likely as workers will not be able to make it to work. Further, loading/unloading of freight and intermodal ramp operations are likely to feature operational impacts due to heavy snow and wind.
Syracuse, NY, Burlington, VT, and Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City in Canada.
Minor power outages are likely with the greatest risk for power outages where freezing rain/ice accumulates.
